Events

The Museum is located in a region with numerous rural agriculture and other outdoor events.  We aim to compliment vs. compete with the organizations that sponsor other events for the benefit of the public.  We invite the public to visit us if they have extra time during their trips to the other venues.

This is a partial list of Museum and other events in the Southern Illinois Region.  Museum events are highlighted.

March, 2018 | Museum brings out  Spring exhibits in the red barn

March & April, 2018 | Spring Turkey and Mushroom seasons at the 22,000 acre Pyramid State Park (https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/Parks/Pages/Pyramid.aspx) located approximately 5 – 10 miles from the Museum. 

Memorial Day Weekend In addition to honoring our Country’s veterans, this is the first official summer weekend with camping, fishing and boating at area lakes – Rend Lake, Kincaid Lake, Crab Orchard Lake and Carlyle Lakes. 

June, 2018 | Museum exhibits transition to a Summer time theme.

June 3, 2018 | The 10th annual Tractor Drive and Luncheon will be hosted by the Museum.

June 16 – 23, 2018 | The longest running County Fair in the State of Illinois, The Perry County Fair , will take place across the street from the Museum.  The ITPA tractor pull occurs the evening of June 22. Find us on Facebook/Perry-County Fair.

August 15 – 19, 2018 | The 59th annual Steam, Gas and Threshing Show will be held by the American Thresherman Association (www.americanthresherman.com) across the street from the Museum.  Antique tractor, ITPA and Illinois Hot Farm Stock pulls will be held.

August 16 – 19, 2018 | The Museum will host its annual Quilt and Toy exhibitions.

World Shooting and Recreational Complex is located in scenic Southern Illinois near the City of Sparta, 15 miles from the Museum.  One of the bigger events is The Grand American which is in August.  Go to the Website and click on the calendar of events to find other happenings.

Aug 25 – Sept 3, 2018 | The Du Quoin State Fair (https://www2.illinois.gov/sites/dsf/Pages/default)  held at the Du Quoin Fairgrounds, approximately 15 miles from the Museum.  In addition to livestock and agricultural judging, big name evening performances, USAC races, ARCA races, truck/tractor pulls and more will occur.

October, 2018 | Museum exhibits transition to a Fall theme.

October 19-21, 2018 | The American Thresherman Association’s Fall Show (www.americanthresherman.com) will be across the street from the Museum.

Oct & November, 2018 | In and out of state bow and gun hunters visit Pyramid State Park  https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/Parks/Pages/Pyramid.aspx and other area locations for the Illinois deer seasons.

December, 2018 | The Museum exhibits transition to Winter and Christmas themes. 

December 6, 2018 | The 6th annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration will be held with Santa Claus the honored guest.
